Soulmate AU Warren x Reader x Alex Headcanons

A/N: This is happening as a headcanon list because, I’m really sorry dude, but my brain is shit out of articulacy and creativity at the moment. It’s also very decidedly not NSFW because that’s just how I am. If anyone else wants headcanons for an AU of some kind, then I am more than happy to oblige, so send them on in!

• Neither Alex or Warren is particularly good at relationships in general
  
• They found out that they shared a mark within a couple of weeks of becoming sort-of friends
• It took them a little while to figure out exactly what they wanted to to do about it, because neither of them wanted to fuck it up
• When they got together, it felt easier than any relationship either of them had ever had before
• But it didn’t feel perfect, not quite like they had sort of figured that soulmates were supposed to go
• They just put it down to reality conflicting with fiction, and besides, everything was still incredible anyway
• It took just about six months for the tension to build up
• The slight irregularity sort of expands over time till it feels like a storm on the verge of breaking
• It’s not that they don’t love each other-they do, so much
• It’s that it feels like there’s something missing, or something slightly off
• They don’t want to talk about it, because the sense of volatility building between them feels like the impending end of a relationship
• So they just carry on with this constant sense that they’re looking for something that doesn’t exist
• Alex actually sees you in a coffee shop one weekend
• He’s just sort of spacing out idly as he waits for his coffee to cool when he spots you
• Something about you just draws his gaze, and he can’t look away
• He’s pretty sure he’s being creepy
• It feels a little creepy, if he’s being totally honest with himself
• But then you lean down to grab your bag off the floor and the neckline of your sweater slips down your shoulder a little and he sees it
• The same simplistic spiral curving along the inside of his left forearm and down the side of Warren’s rib cage is etched delicately along your clavicle and the top of your right shoulder
• He nearly spills his coffee all over himself in his hurry to catch you before you walk out of the coffee shop
• He manages to get your attention just as you walk out the door, and his heart actually fucking stutters in his chest at the sight of your wide, gleaming eyes up close
• “Hi I’m-uh-this is-I’m not really sure what the best way to put this is-I think you’re my soulmate?”
  
• You blink at him, bemused, before reaching up to pull at the neck of your sweater, revealing the precise whorls of your mark along your shoulder
• “I’m Y/N, just by the way”
• Alex can’t tear his gaze from your mark, but he manages to force out an introduction of his own as he reaches for the sleeve of his jacket, pushing it up to reveal his own mark
• He doesn’t really know what he’s expecting to you, but when you practically fling yourself at him, wrapping your arms tightly around his shoulders in a hug, everything in his world seems to suddenly realign its self
• “I need to-it’s-” he starts, and then stops, searching for the right way to explain the situation. “It’s a little more complicated, and it would be much easier to explain somewhere else-there’s someone else I need to-god, this isn’t making any sense at all-I promise I’m not-do you want to come to my apartment? Just to talk about this?”
  
• You look a little confused, but you say yes, and tell him to lead the way
• He can’t bite back the little smile spreading across his face when you take his hand, linking your fingers with his
• Warren doesn’t know quite what to say when Alex shows up with you in tow, your hand still clasped with his
• “Y/N, this is Warren. My soulmate. And yours, I guess.”
  
• Warren feels his eyebrows lifting in incredulity, a mirror expression to the one on your face.
• “Alex, what the hell are you talking about? I don’t-” he starts, but Alex holds up one of his hands in a gesture of reassurance before turning to you
  
• “Could you show him your mark? Please?”
  
• Wordlessly, you reach up to pull aside the neckline of your sweater, eyes locked on Warren, barely conscious of the moment Alex lets go of your hand to stand with his boyfriend
• Warren exhales slowly as he examines the mark on your shoulder, one of his hands going absentmindedly to his hair, ruffling his curls as he thinks
• Alex turns his head to press a soft kiss to Warren’s jaw as he gently reaches for the hem of Warren’s shirt, tugging it up to reveal the same spiraling pattern etched along his ribs
• A sharp gasp falls from your lips as you take an involuntary step closer to Alex and Warren
• “But no one else-I don’t think-I’ve never even heard of three people sharing a mark,” you whisper hesitantly, taking another shaky step towards the boys
  
• Warren winds an arm around Alex’s waist as he tentatively reaches out to take your hand, slowly pulling you in closer still
• The second his hand touches yours, it feels like sparks are ricocheting through Warren’s body, his lips parting in a silent oh
• You close the remaining distance between the three of you, still holding on to Warren’s hand
• Alex moves towards you, wrapping his arms around you and Warren and pulling the three of you into a tight hug
• And even though this is the first time you’ve ever met either of them, the weight of their arms around you feels like home
